I wonder, is there any direct and obvious link to M&TV on the Facebook page? Maybe there is, but I didn't find one in the first few seconds, but then again I don't have any Facebook experience (yes, I live on Mars), maybe this isn't allowed or approved. –  Napoleon Wilson Jan 30 '13 at 9:13

@ChristianRau added direct link in About page also –  Ankit Sharma Jan 30 '13 at 19:59

I find this question offtopic. You can post/blog/discuss M&TV wherever you want, but it has nothing to do with site itself. In its current form this question looks like spam. –  default locale Feb 3 '13 at 16:46

@defaultlocale Huh? You know what M&TV meta is for, don't you? –  Napoleon Wilson Feb 4 '13 at 17:23

@ChristianRau As far as I understand it is for improving our main site. Not for improving/advertising someone's facebook/myspace/personal blog pages. From meta's faq : avoid asking questions that have nothing to do with movies.stackexchange.com. –  default locale Feb 4 '13 at 19:10

@defaultlocale nothing to do with movies.stackexchange.com. , its not a personal blog and second it belongs to movies.stackexchange.com –  Ankit Sharma Feb 4 '13 at 19:12

@AnkitSharma I appreciate your efforts and I will be happy if this facebook public page will increase our traffic/search engine rank (while I'm not really active on facebook and I don't understand how it's better than plain old question/answer sharing). But it has nothing to do with main site itself and, thus, is off-topic on meta. I just don't want to deal with a load of questions like: Hi! Here's a fan page for M&TV on supadupanetwork.evil.so (quite popular social network). Please, get involved, peeps. –  default locale Feb 4 '13 at 19:31

@defaultlocale if it did turn into a trend, then i could see making all discussions of the like as off-topic on meta. As such, this is the only one, and probably will be the only one. It's also intended to be a temporary unofficial page until we graduate and get a real facebook page (if that does actually happen). –  DForck42 Feb 4 '13 at 22:30

It may be "too small" to be a problem, but the use of DVD covers on a FB page for the purposes of advertising a Q&A site which is owned and run as a commercial venture may not constitute fair use under copyright law. –  Mary Jo Finch Apr 4 '13 at 23:10

So wait.. is this going to be like meta.meta.movies.stackexchange.com? –  Bobby Alexander May 15 '13 at 8:31

@BobbyAlexander Its just for promotional purpose on social network (Unofficialy). Their is nothing like meta in it. –  Ankit Sharma May 15 '13 at 9:00

Wow, do we really have a major spoiler as site background there? ;-) –  Napoleon Wilson Oct 3 '13 at 17:12

Why don't we post the day's, week's, month's hot questions on that page. That will attract more attention to the site itself. Extending the same idea, we can feature a list of "All Time Best" questions and answers too.

This will just be a small step in the direction. Going ahead, I think there can be a ton of things that we can do on the FB page to promote and refine the community. Feeling excited!!

That is tough work to do, because its an unofficial fb page so it has to be done manually (by me). And these days i left less time to do so. –  Ankit Sharma Oct 7 '13 at 13:05

Maybe you can share "Post of the Week" to begin with. That shouldn't be very hard, a post a week. –  KeyBrd Basher Oct 8 '13 at 5:31

Yesterday, i have just tried adding rss feeds for the page from M&TV with no success. But, will set something up soon. –  Ankit Sharma Oct 8 '13 at 5:41

@AnkitSharma: Good luck and godspeed. –  KeyBrd Basher Oct 9 '13 at 5:13

RSS feed has been added it will post 5 new question each day, lets see the response. –  Ankit Sharma Oct 9 '13 at 5:19

While I understand that it's an unofficial Facebook page, I still think that the rather officially sounding name of "Movies & TV" and the goal of representing [movies.se] to the Facebook world comes with the responsibility to stay as objective and true to the site as possible.

Having said that, some parts on this Facebook page (like the shared links, or the "likes") make me wonder if those are the views of [movies.se] or Ankit Sharma's (or where the difference between both is).

Some old post are just to communicate with people to attract them and some are for promotion of area51 proposal. Will try to represent movies.se more onwards. –  Ankit Sharma Oct 7 '13 at 14:15

@AnkitSharma Instead of e.g. promoting Indian Language & Usage or Hinduism you might want to promote the more movies-related Home Theater & Audio proposal. ;-) –  Napoleon Wilson Oct 7 '13 at 14:17

@AnkitSharma No problem with communication, but I'm not sure Wolverine is Movies & TV's favourite X-Men character. (Ok, bad example, since Wolverine is probably everybody's favourite X-Men character, anyway, but I guess you get what I'm after) ;-) Likewise does Movies & TV not really have "favourite questions", or at least only in terms of upvotes or view counts. –  Napoleon Wilson Oct 7 '13 at 14:20

@AnkitSharma But those are just hints, I don't want to dictate how you manage your Facebook account either. –  Napoleon Wilson Oct 7 '13 at 14:21

I got your point. The Wolverine was just like a current affair topic so shared it. Anyways thinking to give the page little more time and more efforts. –  Ankit Sharma Oct 7 '13 at 14:23

Your intention are all appear good to me and will appreciate advices. –  Ankit Sharma Oct 7 '13 at 14:24

RSS Feeds has been set for the page, it will automatically update newest 5 question per day –  Ankit Sharma Oct 8 '13 at 20:44

@AnkitSharma Cool, it also seem to have the TomatoBot. –  Napoleon Wilson Oct 8 '13 at 22:07

I have removed tomatobot because free feeds are only 300, after that i have to pay. So want to utilize all 300 for our site only. Will search for other rss feed provider. –  Ankit Sharma Oct 9 '13 at 4:52

Great Job Ankit. We appreciate your efforts. I am not getting why Stack Exchange does not starts official facebook pages of it's network sites still. I worry there can people make fake facebook pages of sites. I have made request for making facebook pages for the same. But this is not getting much attention. And we can like that page on facebook and spread our word.

Can we have 'facebook like' option for each network site of Stack Exchange?

Most of the people on SO Meta doesn't like FB. So its the case of disapproval to your request. But we can at-least try with this unofficial page to promote by sharing it with friends. –  Ankit Sharma Feb 3 '13 at 12:08

this is not getting much attention Untrue. Question received significant amount of vote-downs. –  default locale Feb 3 '13 at 16:50

What exactly would you discuss on a Facebook page of a site that asks questions? –  Bobby Alexander May 15 '13 at 8:32
